Michael DeVault, Licensed Home Inspector

Michael DeVault started his home inspection career in Louisiana, where he worked with  licensed home inspection instructor Mike Roberts as an assistant. Together, they inspected more than 3,000 houses over five years, and Michael learned the ins and outs of home inspections. If it happens in a house, chances are Michael’s seen it—and found it.

Like many home inspectors, Michael has followed a winding path to home inspections. He has flipped and remodeled houses, led a newspaper, and been a publicist for numerous country music legends. He’s also a serial entrepreneur who has assisted founding multiple startups.

During a series of chance meetings with real estate agents, Michael heard the same message over and over: Middle Tennessee has a shortage of good home inspectors. So in July of 2025, Michael started Highland Rim Inspections.

He has lived in Middle Tennessee since 2015 and makes his home in Hendersonville with his wife, Alyssa.
